The greatest contribution of "The Trust" was the establishment of several concurrently operating subsidiaries, notably the Anglo-Palestine Company. The Anglo-Palestine Company, today Bank Leumi Le-Israel, was registered in London, and in 1903 opened its first branch, in Jaffa. This institution was to fill an important role in realizing Herzl's vision, through financial assistance to the zionist enterprise in Eretz Israel and, upon the departure of the British, the establishment of the nation's monetary system.

The Bank of Israel operates by virtue of the Bank of Israel Law, 5714-1954, which was passed by the Knesset on 24 August 1954 and which went into effect on 1 December in that year.
The Law replaced the Bank Notes Ordinance, 1948, that was enacted after the establishment of the State and that regulated the authority to issue banknotes in a charter between the government and the Anglo-Palestine Bank, which later became Bank Leumi Le-Israel.

The town of Ashkelon is situated on the coast south of Yafo. Its name is mentioned as long as 2,700 years ago and also appears frequently in the Bible. Its importance as a port must have been great as it was fought for time after time by Egyptians, Philistines, Israelites, Syrians, Greeks, and Romans, right up to the thirteenth century when it was destroyed completely after having been stubbornly held by the Crusaders as one of their last outposts. Excavations in modern times have yielded many relics, amongst which are giant columns of a palace built by Herod, a native of Ashkelon, and as the new city of Ashkelon is built many more antiquities are constantly unearthed.

The new city is laid out according to the most modern plans on a slope overlooking the Mediterranean. Its summit is occupied by the Civic and Commercial Center of "Afridar", the heart of communal life.

Despite never seeing it with his own eyes, Rabbi Kalischer's vision regarding Jewish farmers did come true. (...) Kibbutz Tirat Zvi, located in the Beit Sheen valley, is named for him.

With the signing of the Israel-Egypt peace treaty on the 26th March 1979, a new era opened in the Middle East and, while a true peace has yet to be reached, there can be no doubt that the treaty marks the first steps towards peaceful relations with all Israel's neighbours.
